Efficiency
The thermal efficiency of the pyrolysis process can reach 95% in most cases.
There is also a consumption of the own produced gas at times, in amounts that can reach 5% of the total flow rate.
This parasite consumption is to fuel the burners dedicated to the gasification process.
Start up of the system can be performed with natural gas or propane/butane (LPG).
The external fuel consumption at start up will only occur during the first hour and it is approximately 20 kg per tonne of gasification capacity.
To turn the system totally self-sufficient it can be considered self-generation of the electricity required for the operation of all equipment involved.
This additional parasite consumption can reach 5% of the total flow rate of the gas produced.
Thus, the ratio between the input energy contained in the feedstock and the one in the remaining gas at the end of the process as a whole is around 0.85, which indicates an absolute efficiency of 85%.
